Head Carpenter/Construction Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the VP of Construction, this employee shall coordinate and supervise the construction of scenery according to The Production Agency specifications. This employee is responsible for assisting with the quoting and planning of scenic builds but primarily is responsible for constructing physical sets and projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years of professional experience as a carpenter in the event or theatrical industries.
  • Extensive knowledge of woodworking tools and scenery construction methods
  • Ability to read construction drawings
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft & Google Suites
  • Ability to self motivate and manage a carpentry team
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own a vehicle
  • Personable disposition a must

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build using appropriate methodologies
  • Knowledge/experience with CNC machines is a benefit
  • Knowledge/experience with welding a benefit
  • Supervise shop staff
  • Lead and direct local crew at event setups
  • Load and drive trucks (standard 24’ @ 5-ton)
  • Interact in a friendly and responsible manner with clients and other staff

HOURS AND SALARY

Regular shop hours range from 8 am-6 pm, but we operate a flexible production schedule to accommodate the needs of our staff. Our shows are set up at all hours of the day and night, and a flexible schedule is required and appreciated.

Remuneration based on skills and experience per hour based on a 40–hour workweek.
